A New Porch in Sutton-in-the-Elms, Leicestershire
A well-designed porch can do more than improve the entrance to a home. It can add kerb appeal, create a stronger first impression and provide a practical, weather-protected space at the front of the property.
For this project in Sutton-in-the-Elms, a small village near Broughton Astley in Leicestershire, Phair Windows designed and built a brand new porch from the ground up.
The finished result features brick dwarf walls, an Agate Grey composite door, matching windows and Agate Grey shiplap cladding, all brought together with a pitched tiled roof for a smart, cohesive finish.
Project Overview
Before the new porch was installed, the property had no porch at all, with a navy blue front door opening directly into the home. The homeowner wanted to create a more substantial entrance that would improve kerb appeal, add character and give the property a smarter, more welcoming finish.
To achieve this, we carried out the full project in-house, from design through to installation. The customer also chose her preferred bricks from our brick library, helping ensure the new porch suited the property and surrounding area perfectly.
The Brief
The original entrance was very open and lacked the presence the homeowner wanted. There was no porch structure to define the front of the property, and the front door led straight into the home.
The homeowner was looking for a porch that would:
- Add definition and character to the entrance.
- Improve the appearance of the front of the property.
- Feel solid, attractive and in keeping with the home.
- Include a pitched tiled roof for a more traditional, well-finished look.
- Be designed and built by one team for a smooth, coordinated result.
The Build Process
We started by planning the porch layout so it would complement the property and sit neatly against the existing frontage. Once the design was agreed, our in-house team carried out the full build with careful attention to detail at every stage.
The installation included:
- Brick dwarf walls, giving the porch a solid and attractive base.
- An Agate Grey composite front door, chosen for its durability, security and modern appearance.
- Matching Agate Grey windows to create a consistent finish.
- Agate Grey shiplap cladding, adding a clean contemporary touch to the exterior.
- A pitched tiled roof, which gives the porch a more traditional appearance and helps it blend naturally with the house.
The Finished Result
The completed porch has completely changed the look of the front of the home. What was once a plain entrance with no porch now feels much more defined, welcoming and visually balanced.
The brick dwarf walls create a strong base, while the Agate Grey door, windows and cladding bring a modern, cohesive finish. The pitched tiled roof adds a traditional touch that ties everything together and gives the porch a more established, high-quality feel.
Customer Outcome
The homeowner now has an entrance that feels far more complete and in keeping with the property. The new porch adds kerb appeal, improves the overall appearance of the house and gives the front of the home a smarter, more welcoming look.
